Words Strung Together

I have learned not to waste valuable time
On lines having neither rhythm nor rhyme,
Words strung together are hardly sublime.
Obviously, some poets are not in their prime
I wouldn’t give their body of work a dime,
I think they should be charged with a crime
Some should consider becoming a mime ~~
Their long poems present an uphill climb,
Pen me singable lyrics with pizzazz anytime.

I've read a lot of the drivel posted in soup for months and it's disheartening that people praise such utter nonsense. The rants about America, the terrible grammar and misspellings, wrong use of common words...I don't mean to sound like a poet laureate, but don't people bother using aids for such mistakes? Apparently not.

You are so right, Jenna. I have stopped reading many "poets" new poems because I always leave disgusted. But, it is an open site, so we can expect that some people have a higher opinion of themselves and their work than we do. We have too many narcissists on here, in my humble opinion!

Oh, trust me, Caren. Have you not read some of the utter drivel in the New Poems? I follow you because you teach me, amuse me, understand me, and make me laugh when I need it most. You are the best therapist I have ever had! Truth! And...your friendship is so precious to me.
