Words Never Said

I let go of a smile, way too afraid to share
what was needed to be said.
I know you waited for words that never
came as your heart slowly bled.
My mouth was open, and only silence were
the sounds heard.
Everything inside just ran and hid as I scrambled
for just a word.
Then you were gone like the sun taken by a sky.
I couldn't reach for you or even stop the goodbye.
Now your gone and I'm screaming for my words
to reach you're ears.
To go to sleep and never wake to see your eyes was
my fear.
I never meant to break your heart, please believe
these words are true.
You were my world with a beginning that ended without
my words "I love you"

When we are young, we sometimes have difficulty expressing our affection, Michael. The first time I told a boy I loved him at age 16 he said, "Thank you." Words of love came later and from his heart. Wish she had known how much she meant to you and hung in there until you felt comfortable telling her you loved her. A very moving entry for the contest and I wish you success, my friend. Love and blessings, Carolyn

Hey, I liked the thoughts in it. I just wanted to say, though, that rhymes are considered last in a poem and shouldn't affect the natural flow of words. Otherwise, I liked it.

How moving, Michael-- how sad indeed that words left unspoken just wait to be screamed sometimes, yet too late for it-- somehow there is closure I hope in writing it down-- very stirring entry for the contest, Michael -- sending you soupmail after this :)-- nikko :)
