Words Insincere
A lot of things are said in jest
But hearts are hurt none the less
Oh, to crawl back in your shell
Save yourself from heartache’s hell
Being naïve does not pay
Sarcasm just comes your way
Only meant for a good joke
If we’d thought before we spoke
Now it’s too late to make it right
We changed someone’s day to night
The hurt the pain and the shame
Careful playing that word game
I thought we’re meant to uplift
Maybe I don’t get the drift
I sure hate words insincere
The false ring just brings a tear
There is a God up above
He looks down on me with love
“Play with fire, you get burned”
This hard lesson I have learned.
