Words Insincere

A lot of things are said in jest
But hearts are hurt none the less

Oh, to crawl back in your shell
Save yourself from heartache’s hell

Being naïve does not pay
Sarcasm just comes your way

Only meant for a good joke
If we’d thought before we spoke

Now it’s too late to make it right
We changed someone’s day to night

The hurt the pain and the shame
Careful playing that word game

I thought we’re meant to uplift
Maybe I don’t get the drift

I sure hate words insincere
The false ring just brings a tear

There is a God up above
He looks down on me with love

“Play with fire, you get burned”
This hard lesson I have learned.

Oh, Eileen... I've gotten carried with words time and time again. We would be all be laughing and having a good time and then you say something that you believe to be a joke (all in good fun) and then it just completely backfires on you... it's not fun! I sympathize...

Sometime I have taken words as insincere when they have not been meant that way. Some of the tears I have shed have been washed away by new understanding.

Yes...this couldn't be more true. Thanks for helping me see this side of things, Richard. I appreciate the comment.

WOW, Now I can tell this just slipped off the tongue, things can be taken soooo the wrong way sometimes, it's knowing the person that counts, and retaining that vein of forgiveness, I get slapped a lot lol, but mostly lightly. Another expos'e on human nature, your good at these my little Desert Orchid. Take care, Richard

Richard....thank you so much for your kind words. You are so good to me. :) Bless you for that. Yes...knowing the person helps you to better know the deeper meaning of what he says. I think you must like the slapping bit...you seem to ask for it at times! ;) I love that spirit in you.
