Words Flow

My words flow out of me
Like water from a fire hose
Yes I can live with its conditions
But how long will it sustain me
I drag its weight where ever I go
A mess of kinks that fights every turn
Staircases ascending, descending, never ending
My life is given as it wears me out
When the smoke of despair blinds me
And the fire of doubt confronts me
I can still steal a slight breath of life
If I bring my face close to the stream
Oxygen, oh sweet words save me
Holding tight to this gift I flee
Following that snaking line to fresh air
Where I hope my words still flow
