Words and Lights

Why is it now that words fail?
That the voices are cast aside from the world
Leaving only a trace of life
Across a plain of madness

It is with uplifting words that I can find peace
Using them as weapon and shield
I can prosper for a short period
Before being dragged unwilling into the void

I used to dream
Beautiful dreams in the nights
Only a shred of them remain
I can’t keep my eyes closed anymore

The light that was guiding me was false
I was tricked by the golden strands
I fear I may have followed them too far
And I am shackled to their deceit

However, I am not doomed yet
For in the distance there are more lights
Along with new words and voices
All to be seen and heard
