Words

Words are just words,
if spoken without meaning.

A senseless waste of breath
and mixed syllables.

What are words,
if not meant to ease,
to sooth and encourage?

If all that fall from your lips
are just hollow echoes.
Burning,
hurting,
those whose ears they fall upon.

Words are just words,
when you say them
without thinking.
When their intentions
are not kind.
