Words

Would you like to go on a jouney with me?

Lets travel to the secret world of words.
Lets look for exciting new words and lovely old words.
See the vowels looking so very proud,
They know their needed for every word.
Now over there the consonants play. We can use them or not…
depending on what we want to say.
The Capital letters, standing first in line, they
polish their hats so they’ll look just fine.
Period, comma, apostrophy..These you will need,
Because on this journey, your learning to read!

Written for a little play my grandson's Kindergarten
class put on..:)

I felt humored by this piece. I can relate to the beauty of discovering words. This piece brought back nostalgic feelings.

Great stuff Barbara. I have always loved words and it is so important to give access and encouragement to children so that they, too, can experience the rewards of reading and writing. Love, Nigel
