Words

Words

Sticks and Stones may break my bones
But
Angry words will hurt me.

Sticks and Stones might bruise my bones
But
Words of hate, will maim me.

Sticks and Stones might tear my skin
But
Words of pain, will do me in.

Sticks and Stones might make me cry
But
Words of bitterness, will kill me inside.

I wonder, I muse, I think a lot,
about the words we speak,
so easy thrown out of our mouths,
into each other's hearts they sink.

Its sad to say that we use our words,
in such tremendous, terrible ways.
To tell the truth, we too are words,
thought of, created, spoken forth one day.

Love wanted us, birthed us, made us unique,
It was this same love that on day one,
our creation into existence, He did speak.

Why do we so thoughtlessly, scream, shout and rage,
Be silent, hush, don't say a sound,
Keep us away from those words of pain.

Each moment, each minute, each second, created by words.
Be careful what you say, they may be spoken, by the heart your words hurt, one day.

Sticks and stones may break my bones
Angry words will surely harm me
Be careful how you speak those tones
Words last forever, they may slowly kill me.
