Wondrous Money
Wondrous Money
You have showered me with riches
Rubies, diamonds and gold
These jewels are most beautiful
But the love I crave you withhold
Rubies and diamonds are cold
And they can show me no emotion
They don’t hold me when I cry
Or show me any devotion
You have paid for fancy clothes
Just for me to wear
I wear them just to please you
But you are seldom there
I am sure you won’t understand
The thing I am about to do
Because you think your money
Can buy anything for you
I have to say good bye to you
I will leave your diamonds and gold
What I would like from you
Cannot be bought nor can it be sold
What I want is a simple thing
Given freely and without regret
It is true and honest love my dear
Something you clearly seem to forget
I am sure you will find another
Money does wondrous things
But if there is no love at all
It is only sorrow that it will bring
