Wonderland
Dangerous animals
pounce out of a plasma screen.
Why would they not?
Every watching eye is a jungle path,
into a perilous land.
Predators know their true environment.
Does a painted jungle deity,
a lesser god, masked as a man,
sit astride upon a carved log,
while hunted virtual humans
hide and seek,
within a computer game
he is endlessly absorbed within?
Where is Alice, his woman?
Does she stalk dinosaurs,
chase tigers through,
a maze of rabbit holes?
Only to bring them back
bundled upon her shoulders -
all those runaway children.
Is she the only one,
free to run,
while we upload our minds
in a wilderness place,
waiting our turn to survive
for another night,
or be skinned and deleted?
