Wonder Eye and Conscious Creature

©dbyrne march 2014 A duo pair of poems inspired and twisted by William Blake's poems 'The Lamb' and 'The Tiger'....lol .......................................................... WONDER EYE Who designed you wonder eye? That stares aloft into sky, Made it so that you can feed, Your intellect with what you read, I see you blinking with delight, With this gift you have of sight, Who designed you wonder eye? That stares aloft into sky, So perfect it is, in its form, Proof creation is the norm? Complex eye, I will tell thee, You evolved just like the bee, A shock I know that you be told, Forgive me please to be so bold, You adapted to the light, So you could gain this great insight, Who designed you wonder eye? That stares aloft into sky, No one did I’m here to say! And no need now for you to pray! CONSCIOUS CREATURE Conscious creature, burning bright, Emerging from the forest night, In the garden you did sigh, Cast out, you mortal sinner cry. From what grove did you arise? To walk and contemplate the skies, Dragged your feet up from the mire, Filling up your soul with fire, With what questions did you start? That twisted sinews of your heart? And when with danger you did meet, Was there a saviour there to greet? What the horror, what the strain? The hell created in your brain, Where was heaven, in the past? Nowhere really, none to grasp, When the stars allayed your fears, Relief, insight replaced your tears, And you smiled for you could see, Just like the eye, no one made thee, Conscious creature, burning bright, Emerging from the forest night, In the garden where you sighed, Now you walk with burning pride.
