Moon Song Painting by Richard De Wolfe
Wolves and the Moon
Brave wolves at midnight boldly stand-
howl at the moon with heads held high.
Top rocky cliff, they take command
and gather 'neath the star-filled sky.
Some say the moon's hypnotic hold
induces baying at its glow.
It's more a battle cry, we're told,
to round the pack, gear up the show.
As they prepare their next advance-
the Alpha signals, start the flight.
Grave power in their moonlit stance-
poor prey will meet its fate tonight.
