When the darkness colors the midnight skies And all your blessings seem in the past, you surmise The ache of heart who knows nothing but lies Listen to the story of His glory – He never dies When the worries grow harder and you feel defeated And all your heartfelt yearnings are uncompleted The heavy hand of doubt causes you to feel depleted Listen to the cross who reveals a gentle that never cheated When your worst fears have come and you don’t understand And all your memories seem to cast a shadow, it’s out of hand The dread grows deeper than you would have ever planned Listen to the One who has designed the world so grand When the music has stopped playing for the hopes you knew And all your dreams have scattered, leaving so very few The doubts and dread, all the nightmares you’ll come through Listen to the song that comes from a Savior who is so true When the bitterness of each thought seems to reveal the wrong And all the grace you’ve known feels like it’s saying you don’t belong The breakthrough isn’t near and your soul just doesn’t feel strong Listen to the voice of One who is love – He’s known you all along When the story reveals a pain that keeps you from holding on And nothing on earth can take away the tears that fall, you’re woebegone The steady hand of hope can lead you from the sorrow you’ve come upon Listen to the love that comes from One to whom your heart is drawn When the troubles feel so close to home and nothing seems worthwhile And you’re left mourning with a heart that feels like it’s living in exile The wonder of His grace, the beauty of His forgiveness, brings a smile Listen, have faith in this man who arose - His sacrifice will reconcile!
