Notes About The Poem

Woebegone

Sadness in
   his downcast eyes;
      in tears,
         devastated.

His four-legged friend,
   birthday gift,
      deceased;
         just buried.

Poor child,
   woebegone.
      He still can't
         believe his dog died;

keeps asking Mom and Dad
   "Why?"
       "Is he coming back?"

I felt your lines so deeply, Edward. I've lost several pups and a devoted kitty. I'll not have another because it's too hard to bear the sorrow. Your write deserved so much more than an N/A, and now you have it!
