I saw you, God In the depths of my lover's eyes, On the fluttering wings in the chaos of, The beautiful butterflies. In reflections from the water, That brought tears to both my eyes, In the smiling faces of the stars Of nighttime summer skies. I did not see you in the war, Nor in the shootings born of hate. I wondered where you went, or where, You seem to hide, of late. Then I saw you at the church, and heard you On the playground. Echoed in the children's laughter, Near the merry-go-round. Now you speak in whisper, beckoning us to peace, As we await your final call, to reach the ear of each; To bring us home, at last, with stories all; And tell you of the wonders that we saw.
