Without You

So many nights in the arms of a whore
So many mornings on a jailhouse floor
So many years in pursuit of a ghost
Always believing you loved me the most

So many hours lost in a fantasy
So many decades chasing a memory
So many promises I had to break
Always believing you’d give more than take

So many people I shoved aside
So many times I wounded my pride
So many words to give you my plea
Always believing you’d be there for me

So many amends I have to make
So many regrets I have to shake
So many things that I will now do
Always knowing it’s better without you
