Without You

I thought we had a bond that was unbreakable
two hearts that beat as one
shared desires, hopes and dreams
our future together planned
out lives forever entwinned
when you left there was so much empty space
my head full of words unspoken
a heart weakened and broken by sorrow
nights became dark and lonely
days-an existence that held no joy
No longer was I blinded by beauty-
there was none
the world was a strange place
full of people I did not know
And then I saw an escape
from the pain, the lonliness
But, as I looked into the abyss
a bright sun shone and sparkled
on a blue clear sea
golden sand shimmered
children laughed and played-
flying kites in the wind
And, I saw hope
you were gone-the other half of me
but I knew I could go on without you.
