Without Words

Without Words

Hour after hour
Endless days and night
Staring at a blank piece of paper
There is an idea hiding on the blank whit sheet
Staring there are faces and monsters
They lurk within the paper’s grain
Easily seen yet hard to find
They haunt deep in the mind
Scaring any ideas that come forward
Why doesn’t it want me to write?
The paper doesn’t tell
It doesn’t say a thing
Empty it teases the writer
Tempting the best to put down a single word
I stare at it as I pray for just a single word
A single idea to put down
Alas there are no words to write
No ideas that should be shared
The paper will wait until another day
The stories may be told by another
The poem will be written in another world
Just not from me
Not today
I just can’t think of the right way to start
Well, maybe tomorrow they will come
An idea worth sharing
But that will be a another day
Another world
Another time
Just not today

It is amazing for a man praying for just one single word how many amazing words spring forth. With deep respect for a unique writer in awe Lizzie.
