Without Natural Affection
I cried, hearing evening news,
“Young toddler dies alone.”
Mom went on her planned vacation,
leaving … young child at home.
“Ohio mom, leaves 16-month-
old daughter on her own.”
In ten days lost one third her weight,
found corpse of skin … and bone.
At home without babysitter,
with no one there to care.
This a most ungodly crime, one
hope and pray … will stay rare.
Un-motherly abuse so shocking,
child robbed of life, her breath.
From her thrill-seeking sick mother,
whose sentence … was not death.
Judge holding back tears as sentenced,
Mom to life, the child killed.
Child's screams heard on neighbor's doorbell
cam’ra … till it went still.
No justification cause, stopped,
taking her prescribed meds.”
“Candelario’s” head-reeling headlines,
can’t erase … from our heads.
Mental health, anxiety, and
depression no excuse.
No justification for moms,
act of … deadly abuse.
