Within the Early Spring

I. When he was born, within the early spring, It was the year Nineteen Seventy-Five. All hearts were warmed with the joy he would bring, Knowing as he grew older, he would thrive. He continued to develop and strive; And with his first steps, he started walking— Then, with mumbled words, he began talking. II. As he continued to learn and explore, A birthday party with his friends was planned— The eighth day of April had come once more. His first year of grade school was soon at hand, And he rose to each challenging demand. He soon knew every number and letter, And started reading and writing better. III. Once the warmer days of summer returned, He delivered newspapers on his bike. Using the allowance that he had earned, He bought treats, and through the woods he would hike. He learned which things he did and did not like— As he kept growing taller and older, And his moments of courage got bolder. © 2021
