Within Darkness

Forsake your constant wandering,
And rest your saddened, heavy heart;
Put now aside day’s drudgery,
And slowly drift into the dark

Your eyes will find me waiting there,
Still gazing on the span of time,
Distorted in its hazy hues,
Behind this shattered pane of mine

Reach through the mist that lies between,
Your shrouded hopes and faded dreams,
And I will seek your blind intent,
If you but lend your life to me

Within the calm we’ll find the truth,
Exposing beauty beyond youth,
And dwell upon new secrets shared,
Kept tightly bound to hearts that care

But when you’re ready to emerge,
And join the realm not quite your own,
Disguised in dazzling rays of light,
Remember, darkness is your home.
