With the Morning Light

I rise from my bed
As cobwebs take flight
Now gone from my head
With the morning light.

The birds on the wing
Their sweet song just right
As they wake and sing
With the morning light.

Trees wave in the breeze
With sun shining bright
I start with a sneeze
With the morning light.

With a cough and a blow
I sit down to write
As thoughts ebb and flow
With the morning light.
