With the Hours Turning Slowly and the Only Thought Is You
In a room, dimly lit and fading
as I sit amongst the blue,
with the hours turning slowly
and the only thought is you..
Were yesterdays a dream,
ones so easy to recall?
A garden that was full of thorns
Yet a rose stood amidst them all..
No reds, yellows, nor vibrant pink
A dark beauty with a special shine,
Unforgettable in it's brilliance
How maddeningly I wanted it to be only mine..
I would watch from afar
as admirers would feverishly come and go,
My impressions upon the window pane,
from the dawning of green, to the white falls of snow..
Through the rolling of ages,
I'd promised to always keep it fed
There would be no other to take it's place,
No, not one, of this I firmly said..
Scents and scenes and shining smiles,
would always pass near shuttered door
Yet all for naught, and naught for all,
As the dark beauty would hold court forever more..
A day came, and like man I failed,
promises made but selfishly no longer kept
The black rose thirsted all the while,
surrounded by the salty tears, alone she silently wept..
So here am I, in a room dimly lit and fading
as I sit amongst the blue,
with the hours turning slowly
and the only thought is you...TAH
