With It

. for public domain

A quiet place to sit and soak in shadows,
with sparsely occupied dusty bar stools,
with an easy air of loneliness,
with blank glances cast indifferently,
with low lights and a metal clanking fan,
with a noiseless jukebox by a wall,
with short and sullen whispers and murmurs,
with an out of order glassed in phone booth,
with a worn and checkered linoleum floor,
with large soiled windows showing empty streets,
with a wall clock marking the ticks of time,
with nowhere to go in any hurry,
with memories to pass the night away.
