With Every New July

And when July is born There’s magic to behold The sun is shining bright The sheen is made of gold The kids are racing bikes And learning how to fly I wish that I could be them With every new July When friends are having fun They gather with delight The ones with sleeping bags Are sharing heaven’s light The sky is full of stars That twinkle by and by I wish that I could see them With every new July The flower beds are deep The summer grass is tall The trees are full of leaves That beckon to us all Where forests are receding And springs are running dry I wish that I could free them With every new July.

I like the rhythm, rhyme and flow of this one. I like the topic as well. If only each one of us would plant at least one tree and try to be conservative in all our endeavors. Congrats on this winner. Sara

Thank you, Sara. Great to hear from you. I like your message too. Trees are infinitely more interesting to me than UFO's. Best wishes, Bryan.

Beautiful cadence and a very effective use of repetition with that slight change of words. You don't need me to tell you that this is a great poem but I will anyway. :) Cheers - Gary
