Wishing Well

I keep falling
in deeper water,
sinking like a desirous penny
to the bottom of your well
where pretty things
no longer thrive
and love is
a shade of gray

I'm swimming in the mouth
of murky dreams
and my heart
is no longer transparent,
she's wading
in a smutty film
of verity

how ugly
