Wishing For the Dream

It was another night
 that darkness set deeply in
 long before the end of day;

in my foolish efforts
 I longed for you to stay
but the reality was you're long gone;

some four years have passed
 in my heart I love you still
and it seems nothing of this life stays;

cold are the covers that blanket my need
 as I still lie in restless sleep
wishing for the dream.
