Notes About The Poem

Elderly Parents are left alone for most part of the year with an occasional visit during g Christmas. Parents need love and affection just like children do and must not be made to suffer the loneliness they often endure!

Wish List of the Elderly

Born alone,
A lonely life,
Perhaps
Lonely at death
despite the family.
Cost of living is so high
That you are loved
For what you can give
Not for what
you might take.
My wish list
Does not include
Items of physical
pleasures,
but such things
As love, laughter
and affection.
I wipe the mist
On the window
Bare hand
To see outside.
Waiting alone,
For my children
To come home
for christmas!
