Notes About The Poem

July 24, 2023, placed 1st in Eve Roper's Start Jamming, Any Rhyming Form Contest

Wise Bird

I always watch the weather news
before I make my daily plans.
What I see on my walk just proves
my brain’s much more advanced than man’s.

My raingear’s perfect for this day;
I’m snug and dry from head to toe,
Some people have been caught off-guard.
I see them running to and fro.

Sans umbrella and overshoes,
they’re soaked. “DUH! What did you expect?”
I say to them. “If you were smart,
like me, your day would not be wrecked!”

This is a sweet, clever poem Janice. I can so easily relate to it as I’m someone that never goes anywhere without an umbrella! Enjoyed it. Thank you for sharing.

They know how to survive and thrive, rain or shine. Your poem gives the bird meaningful voice, Janice.
