Winter's End

Inside the snow globe of winter
we press our noses against the frosted glass
and watch the last of the swirling snowflakes dance up into the sea of sky...
 deep blue and even
where clouds of paper white drift across like sailing ships
liquid sunshine warms our chilled bodies as we stand
and wait on the precipice of April...
