Winter's Daybreak Blush
Winter’s Daybreak Blush
snow’s chalky powdered coating covers all
save for the scratchings of those damned
to search the blinding white of empty stage
stand naked at the curtain call – Act One
to mock the Emperor – to steal his clothes
an homage – this emulation of His flowing robes
uncovering the depth of lunacy’s lament
cavorting in cold music’s dalliance
moonlight takes heed and tints the stage in blue
soft fluttering of wings against the night
stir long idle snowflakes from their rest
chattering in Winter’s daybreak blush
