Winter's Chill
Another weary winter season calls;
the leaves are gone and balding branches bare,
and from the slate grey skies the snow now falls
‘pon lonely empty streets of village square
while punctuated by its frigid air.
I’m holed up in the darkness as I lie
in hibernation deep within my mind
and longing for the warmth of your soft sigh
that always brings me hope and love combined
with all the soothing warmth I long to find.
I’m yearning for the promises of Spring
as seen in newborn meadows lush with bloom
and all the joys which springtime blossoms bring
in hopes to exit from this winter womb
and put an end to all this dreary gloom.
This chilling darkness has a grip on me
and I will never feel released until
the warming breeze of springtime sets me free.
Please wrap me in the comforts of your will,
and save me from this weary winter’s chill.
