Winterlong

There is a stillness in the cold
When everything sets into a deep freeze
And the clouds cast a red glow

The snow on the ground reflects
But it doesn't speak
It only covers what has already been

The stars seem to shine brighter
Piercing through another passing night
They're light millions of miles away
And thousands of years ago

Can we comprehend what we cannot see
And can we understand what we have?

As one mystery unravels
Another becomes more tightly wound

And yet still winter passes
As some are lost
And others are found
