Winter Warmth

A chill in the air, a blistery wind,
Sends resonating chills down my spine.
Oh, winters coming! I know it now.
Snow can’t be that far behind.

While preparing my wood, chopping away
I’ll swing and with each one, I’ll dream.
The cold winter air that comes to us now
Will heat up, or so it will seem.

Sprayed before the fireplace,
On a rug just made for two.
I see it all now, the image, the us,
Making our heat, just me and you.

But, back to where I am right now,
Preparing my wood, for to blaze.
I’ll continue to fantasize, all this time,
Of you, on all my winter days.

So well written and heart warming. You left out the bottle of red wine and the candles, but sounds like a perfect way to spend a winter evening. Good one. Love Heidie

hot thoughts! You don' t need the fire Michael, "you've got your love to keep you warm" as the old song goes. Nice use of rhythm and rhyme...just a thought , how are you sprayed?

Nice use of rhyme to forward your thoughts. I'm not a winter fan--though I do live in North Dakota. It makes me appreciate spring more. This poem has a down to earth feel that I think many will relate to. Keep warm this winter. Karen

The best thing (at least for me) about winter, is sitting by the cozy fire. (Of course, I'm not the one chopping all the wood! However, I do know how to start a fire!!!) Lovely seasonal poem~ Carrie
