Winter Suns

A struggle through clouds
passing across chilled blue of
winter sky gives in

to jagged horizons
surrounding the restful hazel eyes
recalling Autumn

Can't you see? That the
winds were stripping trees last time
we sang of how stars

chase sunsets and how
their light is the wake of their
deaths, so long ago.
