Winter Sonet

Fall has passed and cold snow has lost its charm
Yet we will not write a sad winter song
So lets rig the sleigh and visit the farm
Down the dirt road where children sing along
with snow angels spread out across the lawn
and drink flows free with stories told till dawn.

White flakes from skies hide the tears in ones eyes
Falling for family members lost too soon
Finding packages to give kids surprise
And pretend to be the man in maroon
Makes us look forward to time in a room
With what we have to be in good fortune

Days getting longer by minutes create
Occasional thaws keeps the hopes alive
That the Spring we are promised wont be late
And the honey will last for all the hive
We must hurry to get in one last slide
And the ski boots from grandma must be tried

fun times of winter us lets celebrate
Before summer days need alleviate

Congratulations William, your poem earned a distinguished place in my contest, due to the exacting syllable counts and perfect rhyme requirements this contest was very tough to judge, well done my friend, Emile.
