Winter Romance

pale fingers clutch the bouquet of roses
smiles spread across youthful faces
warm greetings by guests take the nip
out of the Midwestern air.
Sharing a bond glues them 
together, but births 
will not unfreeze
their marriage
cold times 
  stay.
