Winter Crocus
in a sunny location on a chilly winter day
I found a snow flower beautiful and gay
oh, vivid was this purple crocus so sweet
and it had not a care or a need to grow in the heat
it just poked it's delicate head through the snow
unmindful of cool winds and whispered hello
it was really a lovely and unexpected bright display
and I found leaving this lovely snow flower bittersweet
but, I knew into spring it would grow ...
