Winter Complaints
Here it is! The blustery cold,
The season we dread slowly unfolds,
The beautiful colors fade day by day,
Crash to the dirt where they will lay.
These icy few months drag on so long,
Anticipating sunny days, is that so wrong?,
Longing for the warm kiss of the sun,
Happily Christmas lifts you up before coming undone.
No color, all white, grey and some black,
Wishing for pansies and touch-me-nots to come back,
Needing just a glimpse of the golden rays of the sun,
Wanting to go somewhere warm and have some fun.
Slowly the chill evaporates into the cold sky,
The beloved snowmen melt and we say our good-byes,
As we welcome the New Year with arms open wide,
Quoting our resolutions with such drunken pride.
Finally! Spring a reason for smiles,
Watching patiently for this all the while,
The energy I have needed all year,
Life seems much better SUMMER is finally here.
