This is such a beautiful haiku dear Sara. Yes, I can feel that when you said "winter slips in uninvited" Certainly, it's not my favorite season too, but I love how creatively you've conveyed the feeling through such evocative imagery of nature.. Sending you light, always :)

Beautiful haiku... dear Sara. The image too is beautiful. When nothing is available for the birds and beasts, we have to feed them.

Valsa, I haven't started feeding any other species yet, but I am sure they would love free food. We have a couple of people around who are feeding the deer to keep them in this area and well fed. Thank you for the visit. Sara K

I liked that picture also. Four species eating together. Your visit with the blessing and merry Christmas is just what I need. Sara K

Uninvited dinner guest, Winter, always gets those stoves smoking. Makes sure to waft it all around the countryside. Announcing herself in a big ole paralyzing parade. But birds look like they got it made in the shade. Takes Winter's antics in stride. (When a little says alot) Then you did a beautiful job.

Thank you, Jude. Here in the south, we don't have as much of a problem as up north that has the snow, but it is cold out there and the food is not as readily available for the birds, so I try to feed them a little. Mostly so far this year it is just House finches and maybe some sparrows. Sara K

Gershon, Yes, the cardinals enjoy the free seed each year and I enjoy seeing them so it is a mutual thing. Thanks for the high praise. Sara

Yes, I don't like it when it gets really cold especially when it is cold and wet. I enjoy staying inside though which for some people would go stir crazy. Thanks for the visit and nice review of my work. Sara K

Are the bird feeders full of food? I find most birds leave where I am in the winter.. Lovely haiku my friend.. have a lovely day.

So, I did not fill them full because it was going to rain, and I did not want it to get wet and mold. I did put out two suet cakes for them and they have been enjoying the food. Yes, we have some migratory species that are here in summer then leave in late fall, but then there are some migratory species that show up here for a short time during fall but disappear again until spring. Thanks for the visit and nice review. Sara K
