Winter
Crisp cold mornings,
they make me think of you.
Your hair was always messy,
and fell everywhere about your shoulders.
Your eyes were windows into forever.
That is how long I wanted us to last.
Yet, you are still a sweet remembrance.
That was our first time together.
You know what I mean.
The next holiday and all those that came after,
were shared with small voices,
and here… “ever-afters”.
That was okay, I am here to say,
I love you…
Each and every day.
Then the house grew strangely quiet.
Laughter left us with our children gone.
Appointments to places where everyone wears white,
Each and every day.
I want to go back to the beginning.
I want to do it all again.
I never got enough… of.
What cost to my heart…?
It is cold.
Each
and
every
day.
