Winter
Winter brought
Rain and snow
Frost and fog
Slippy pavements
And icy water
A cold hand
For the labourer
And windy squalls
To shake trees
Lightning and torrents
Falling from the sky
And also a time of peaceful rest
In nature's closed eye.
