Winning the Battle
Lungs burning for air
Head spinning just a little
Stomp, stomp, stomp, stomp
Sweat dripping into my eyes
Soaking my clothes
Hiding any tears I may have needed to shed
Sprinting that last hundred meters
Stepping over the finish line
Crowds erupting
You've won the battle
And when you open your eyes
The crowds are gone
You're drenched with sweat
Alone on the empty track
Gasping for air...
And sometimes
That's just what you needed
