The golden goose of love had laid an egg Let it roll away, for to beg Passersby shunned the sight all day, all night The poor goose knew its time had now arrived No longer could her feathers up and fly She cast one last longing look on high Then plunged headfirst into the drink... Total strangers hushed and gathered 'round Transfixed by what they saw there in the pond The golden goose unfurled her wings of dawn One last fling for a gander's favorite blond
