Wings for Tomorrow


If fate decrees we’ll never blend,  
I pray your future holds a love that’s kind,  
A shelter sure where doubts don’t cloud your mind,  
No fear you’re hard to hold or left behind.  
May they behold the treasures I once knew,
Your silent strength, your heart so soft and true,  
The way you bear your pain yet still shine through,  
And give the world a warmth that’s ever new.  

Let them revere the love you freely give,  
Stand firm through storms and never turn to leave,  
Refuse to let you shrink so you may live.  
They’ll cheer your glow and hold you when you grieve.  

I won’t pretend my heart was always right,
My fears eclipsed the love you should have known.  
I faltered, failed, and left some words unshown.  
For every miss, I’m sorry through the night.  
Yet every laugh, each tear, each quiet hour  
When words fell short but love still held its power,
Was real, was ours, and carved into my core.  
You mattered then, you matter evermore.  

The thought of life without you cuts like steel,  
But love that’s true won’t clutch with selfish zeal.  
It frees the one it cherishes to heal.  
So if our paths diverge and never meet,  
I’ll wish you peace, your dreams in flight complete,  
A love that lasts, that mends, that’s vast and sweet,  
Far stronger than the one I can’t repeat.  

And if you ever wonder in the dark,
If someone loved you with a boundless spark,  
The answer rings, I did, with all my heart.  
I love you still, in silence, set apart.
