Wings

I pulled the hope from my mouth like string
and with all my courage used it to knit my wings
My soul like a butterfly fighting for flight
to free the burden from the base of my skull and the grief from my spine
I want to empty my ribs, just so I may be filled again...but this time I want it to be with love
I want to be so full of love I split at the seams and the hurt that I was before becomes a memory
And only when I'm saturated will I be satiated
I'm feeling hunger for the very first time when all I had ever known was starvation
I thought I always had to choose between sustenance and satisfaction
Now I know that I can have both at the same time so that I too may expirience what it means to be fully alive
