Winged Wonder

Why are my wings oiled
The carelessness of BP
Cannot be undone

Man's quest for black gold
Destroys the sea I once soared
My flock endangered

Ive seen this with my own eyes after an oil spill in the Chesapeake once. We were fishing for blue crab and every one we caught up was covered with oil sludge....very sad...this is good poem from nature's perspective. Have a great day , Carolyn!

Sad and so true. thanks for reading my poem tonight. Poor Ollyver was so stupid. I have many stories and poems of him but hubbie finally couldn't take his bad habits anymore (peeing in corners, yapping at strangers, fear biting Joe on his toe in the night. haha) I really wish I knew what happened to him but someone at Pet Smart adopted him I was told. Luv , Andrea

such a meaningful cause to care in. Carelessness wrecked so much havoc and yet the careless remain in scores. Susan

Hi, Carolyn. That oil spill is really sickening. I just watched the commercial where someone is trying to clean up a duck. Will the planet be habitable in another 10 years? Timely write. Love, Dave

Well written for the times we are living in. When will we begin to recognize our symbiotic relationship with the other creatures who inhabit this world? Good luck in the contest! Dan C

Awesome Haiku, dear Carolyn..it's an extremely horrible situation..and again, our greed supercedes our duty to all creatures...even ourselves....Thanks for leaving comments for me and also for the honor of having my poem placed 3rd in your Phoenix Rising Contest!! Will always cherish this! Love, Audrey

I guess it is the quest for that black gold. I often wonder why we have to have rigs out at sea. Is there not enough oil on land or do the dollars signs outweigh everything. Thank you for all your comments they are greatly appreciated. God Bless Phyl
