Winds Of Change
For years, I was cautious
About who I gave my heart.
I'd always known love hurts,
So I tried to play it smart.
Then you walked into my life
And stole my heart from me.
There wasn't any struggle,
It just happened so naturally.
In all my years of life,
This hadn't happened before.
My heart, you stole away,
Was finally able to soar.
My love that grew for you
Was so pure and strong.
Life with you was natural,
Together we had to belong.
Then one day, like the wind,
For no reason, you just change.
You weren't the person I loved,
You were someone strange.
I gave you all I had,
For you it wasn't enough.
That, or all your love
Was nothing but a bluff.
Regardless, it was my heart
That had to pay the price.
It was laid out on an altar
And used as a sacrifice.
