Win the Night

It was a difficult lesson but alcohol
Was what taught me how to fall
To scratch and claw to a perch so high
It's hard but I sigh I've gotta say goodbye
From here on I will walk this lonely road
But I can't linger on what the globe showed
When faces turn fake and mistake
You for weak so they reach for the stake
Integrity broken I'm real among fakes
And if we don't stop and slam on the breaks
We'll be a mystery lost to the pages of time
And that would be our greatest crime
Stealing time from our youth
We're not ready to face that truth
Because as eyes open and souls have awoken
We're shaken by a world so lonely and broken
Full of callous souls coming out of havens so craven
That perhaps there's nothing left to be savin'
But I'm not quite ready to give up that fight
To strive for a future that I know is right
And I put my hand on my heart
In the face of evil that pulls us apart
A wolf convincing sheep to fight each other
Sister against sister, brother against brother
This devilry is a result of a lack of chivalry
But at the end of the day it will never shrivel me
I'm strong enough to prove I belong
And you won't be able to say I'm wrong
But the media hypes gossip and slander
It's a real lack of candor
And it's not what I stand for
And I demand more
And I'll man picket signs
Even if I'm pickin' fines
But here are the signs
That the times are changing
And it's rebellion we're staging
We're the minute men
Destined to take out the senate when
It's nothing but a hall of corruption
And this is the eruption
The walls are breaking and crumbling
And the ancient fossils are stumbling
But this is an earthquake of your making
Because of the honesty you were faking
But it was a mistake you were making
And now that's a fact that you're facing
Because when sanity unites
It will always win the night
