Win Lose Draw

God and The Devil sat counter
over whiskey at the boardroom table,
to negotiate the terms of her surrender;
no real surrender materialised,
but the battle-lines were re-drawn,
albeit imperceptibly so.
The value of the chattel
will not be agreed,
the meaning of defeat
almost as meaningless as winning,
but for the stroking of the battered ego,
chattel’s value unknown.
I sat with God and The Devil
at the blood-stained boardroom table,
they specified the terms of my surrender
and erased the day of my resistance;
the surrender was real and assured,
I haven’t heard from them since.

That line is invisible yet in truth its as a solid as a granite wall capped over with steel, my great friend. I love this deeply profound piece and its call to the reader to ponder life, death and our existence! Sorry that I am late to find it, I have been sick. A fav.. another one of your fine gems..

The playground we visit the battles , sometime they are all in our minds, other times they are not. A heart felt poem of struggle and surmount.

Are they metaphors or are they real?

A thin line is drawn between right and wrong. Trying to stand on both sides, at the same time. Meaningless indeed!! This is deep and powerful!!! ~ Brandy

A thin line indeed, Brandy, sometimes too thin to even see. Very glad you liked it; visit and comments always greatly valued.

This was quite a battle! God and Devil are metaphors for the living and life as the fight between good and evil goes on.

Sometimes, though, it's near impossible to tell good and evil apart, if they really even exist. Good angle, thanks for visit and comment.
